Framework
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
P.S. 182 implements PBIS — Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports — described as “a dynamic and student-centered approach used across New York City Public Schools to create vibrant, supportive, and joyful learning environments.”
At BBMS, that framework is built around our OWLS values. Students earn OWLS tickets for demonstrating positive behaviors, and exchange them weekly during Fun Friday for prizes.

OWL expectations
Three core expectations run through every space in the building — Own Your Actions, Work Together, and Lead with Respect. Visual behavior matrices make those expectations explicit in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and the auditorium.

Counseling
Support for every student
Our counseling program aims to create “a school community where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential,” through individual and group counseling, classroom guidance, and collaboration with families.
Families can also review our Behavioral Expectations or find outside support on our Mental Health Resources page.
