Overview
Two languages, one curriculum
The Dual Language Bilingual Education program is the heart of BBMS. From kindergarten through fifth grade, 50% of instruction is delivered in English and 50% in Spanish, so students build academic skill in both languages at the same time rather than trading one for the other.
That bilingual instruction rides on a common set of research-based programs — HMH Into Reading and the Literacy Design Collaborative for English Language Arts, enVision Mathematics, Amplify Science, and Passport to Social Studies — with Heggerty Phonemic Awareness and Really Great Reading added for phonics in the early grades, and the Creative Curriculum in 3K and Pre-K.
Around that core, an Integrated Co-Teaching model, on-site therapeutic services, and partnerships with El Museo del Barrio, NASA’s Growing Beyond Earth, Girls on the Run, Asphalt Green, Bricks 4 Kidz, and Drizzle extend what a school day can hold. Use the index below to go deeper into any part of it.
