Parent Association (PA)

If you are the parent of a student currently on the register at B.B.M.S. / P.S. 182, you are automatically a member of the Parent Association. There are no dues — payment is not a condition for participation or membership — and every parent of an enrolled student is entitled to a single vote at Association meetings.

Si su hijo o hija está inscrito en BBMS, usted ya es miembro de la Asociación de Padres.

Meetings

When and how the PA meets

General membership meetings are held monthly, September through June, on the third Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m., and are held in the school. If a date falls on a legal or religious holiday, the meeting moves to the following or previous Wednesday as determined by the executive board. Written notice goes out at least 10 calendar days beforehand, in the languages spoken by parents at the school whenever possible.

A quorum of at least 8 Association members — a minimum of 2 executive board members and 6 parent members — is required to conduct official Association business.

Article IV — Officers

Any BBMS parent can hold office

The mandatory officers of the Association are president, recording secretary, and treasurer; electing those three constitutes a functioning Parent Association. There are no qualification requirements for any parent to hold office other than being the parent of a child attending B.B.M.S. / P.S. 182. Non-mandatory positions may include vice president, corresponding secretary, parliamentarian, and sergeant at arms.

A term of office runs no more than 12 months, beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Elections must be held at an in-person meeting or on a virtual remote platform; voting by proxy, absentee ballot, or email is prohibited.
